Jill began dancing at the age of 2 in Mesa Arizona. She studied all forms of dance until age 12, when she decided to focus on ballet. At age 15, she was accepted to the prestigious Kirov Academy of Ballet in Washington DC’s summer intensive, and went on to study modern dance as a Dance Major at Scottsdale Community College in Brigham Young University. She received the Arizona Young Artist’s Award in 2004, and attended the American College Dance Festival for 2 years. She taught workshops for summer intensives through high school and college, and performed in many dance concerts locally and nationally as a member of Ballet Etudes, Euporea Dance Company, Instinct DanceCorps, SCC Modern Dance Company, TILIT Dance Company, Liz Casebolt and Dancers, and The Dancer’s Company.
She is currently a nursing student at UAA. We don’t know how she has any free time, but when she does, she loves to bake and cook, sew, garden, and travel! We are so lucky that her husband’s position with the U.S. Coast Guard brought Jill and their two daughters to Kodiak, and thrilled that she is part of the Next Step Dance team! She currently teaches contemporary, and is beloved by her students for her great classes and innovative choreography.
