Tap Teacher (beginning, intermediate, beginning adult) Jazz Teacher (beginning, intermediate, advanced) Hip hop Teacher (beginning, intermediate, beginning adult)
The Next Step Dance Kodiak (formerly Little School of Dance) is always looking for dynamic, skilled teachers to join our rock star team! We currently have approximately 160 students, ages 3-adult, and would love to talk with you if you are interested in joining us either as a regularly scheduled teacher or as one of our wonderful substitute teachers!
The dance instruction year is September-May. Our classes are held Monday-Friday between 4:00-9:00pm. Our school can be flexible with dates and times for classes if availability is given prior to the Fall Schedule being posted.
In addition to teaching curriculum-based weekly class, teachers should plan to attend paid staff meetings approximately every 6 weeks, choreograph class dances and possibly solo or ensemble pieces for annual spring recital, and assist with production of spring recital (1 weekend day for four weeks leading up to recital, plus daily rehearsals week of recital, and any additional time rehearsing solos or ensembles). Rehearsal time is paid.
Teachers should have strong technical skill in their dance style, as well as an upbeat, positive personality and ability to work with a variety of age ranges and skill levels. Qualifications in other styles (tumbling/acro/contemporary) are a plus. Our teachers must understand the need to choose age appropriate music (clean lyrics) and choreography. We offer a supportive, fun, and collaborative work environment.
We’d love to speak with you about your background and experience teaching dance, and see whether NSDK would be a good fit for your teaching skills. Please complete the form below and include a resume along with a short (~250 words) statement about why you would like to teach at Next Step Dance Kodiak.
